Autism
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental difference that affects the way individuals communicate, interact, and process the world around them. Because autism is a spectrum, experiences and needs can vary widely from person to person. Some may notice signs in early childhood, while others may not seek an evaluation or diagnosis until adulthood. Regardless of age, understanding one’s strengths and challenges can be a powerful step toward growth, support, and improved quality of life.
As a Certified Autism Specialist, I bring advanced training and a deep understanding of the unique ways autism can shape daily life. My expertise allows me to provide autism-specific strategies that honor individual strengths while addressing challenges. For children, I also offer specialized support through AutPlay Therapy, an evidence-based play therapy approach designed to help children on the spectrum improve emotional regulation, social connection, and coping skills in a supportive and playful environment.
Living with autism can sometimes mean facing difficulties with social communication, such as interpreting verbal and nonverbal cues, building friendships, or managing sensory sensitivities. Repetitive or ritualistic behaviors may also impact school, work, or relationships. At the same time, many autistic individuals possess remarkable abilities, creativity, and perspectives that enrich their lives and communities.
Therapy can provide practical strategies to reduce stress, manage anxiety, and support social and emotional growth. Whether working with a child, adolescent, or adult, my goal is to help you or your loved one not only navigate challenges, but also embrace and build upon the unique strengths that autism can bring.
